Photographing a cat: secrets for taking perfect pictures
Taking perfect photos with your cat has never been easier
As family members, cats have the right to become part of family photos: in France and England, luxury portraits for their pets are a real fashion, but in this case, Italy has demonstrated at the cutting edge. There are many Italian agencies dedicated to portraits of the cat, as many owners want so much to photograph house animals, even commissioning photoshoots that witness the growth of their puppy. Obviously, these services cost, so how to save and photograph our feline friend impeccably?
Photographing a cat, the secrets of the professionals
The first rule for photographing a cat, or any domestic animal, concerns light in open and closed places. Usually, professionals choose to take photos in the garden to put the animal at ease and to camouflage its equipment, which could frighten a fearful cat. The shots must be taken in the first two hours of sunshine and in the last two, or at sunrise or sunset. The first reason is that you avoid the scorching heat of summer, and second because there is the right natural light to highlight the image. If the set is in a closed place, instead, the light must always be behind the photographer, so that the subject is always illuminated.
The second rule for photographing a feline, always avoiding crowded and confusing places, the cat must feel at ease in the environment. It is useful to bring his bunk or a few toys to distract him and seize the moment.
The third rule is to be observed with caution: the photographer must be able to place himself at the height of the cat with the camera in line with his eyes. It is not asked to take too close-up photographs with the animal, only to see the world with its eyes. It will be easier to have perfect photos like this instead of trying to make the perfect shot from above.
Fourth and final rule: place the cat in a raised position with respect to the target for a better shot. It is valid both outdoors and indoors, taking care not to leave objects on the ground, to make the photo sharper. It will be sufficient to place them on a chair or a sofa. Whether it’s a puppy, an adult cat or an old cat, if he is restless he may seem unattainable, but with perfect patience and sweetness, a perfect photo will surely come, worthy of being framed!
